In January, Music in the Mountains visited Silver Lining Orphanage in Pyin Oo Lwin, Myanmar, home to 170 orphaned youth. It was an incredible experience teaching music to these amazing students. The students of Silver Lining Orphanage in Myanmar give an outstanding musical performance of the song “May Peace Be Always With You” following a lesson.
We also taught the younger children some fun rhythm activities and introduced them to tone chimes, the precursor to brass handbells. Currently, we are working with their music teacher to help them design and implement a culturally informed music education program!
